Home / School Partnership

One of the very important  aspects of the Home School Partnership is the family's involvement in supporting the child with homework activities.  We have a structured programme of activities for children from Reception to Year 6:

Pre Reception and Reception children:  Rainbow sacks.  These are sacks that families borrow from school on a weekly basis and they are filled with resources around a theme.  Activities, games, books, puzzles etc. relate to the early Learning goals in the Foudation stage.  Children love the sacks and favourite titles include "The Three Bears", "The Farm" and "Starting School".  One advantage is that child and carer have the opportunity to come into school in the summer term before entry in September, and in so doing they become familiar with the adults in school and with the building.

Reception and Year 1:  Homework activities include literacy and numeracy activities, spellings, reading and maths games to be played and enjoyed at the weekends.

Year 2 to Year 6:  Literacy and numeracy activities, spellings, reading, tables and maths games to be played at the weekends.

In the February half term the whole family are asked to support the child in completing Home/School Achievement forms.  These give the children the opportunity to describe their achievements out of school and focus on interests, hobbies and things they like to do at home.  A form is completed each year, and by the time children leave in year 6 they have a valuable record of their achievements in their formative years.

Parents are actively encouraged to enter fully into the partnership, which the school feels is vital if children are to achieve success and high standards in all aspects of school life.  The partnership begins in the term prior to entry and is expected to continue through to the culmination of Year 6.

"We believe this is vital to enable your child to enjoy a happy and successful primary school career."
