Great Rissington School is a small primary school set in a picturesque Cotswold village location. We cater for children from 4 to 11 years of age, split into 3 classes. We currently have 89 pupils on roll.
The school opened in 1897. Over the last 12 years it has been extended and refurbished to high standards to provide our children with an excellent internal and external learning environment, which incorporates a high level of technology. We pride ourselves on the high academic standards our pupils consistently achieve. Our experienced teaching staff are ably supported by classroom assistants, all of whom aim to cater for children as individuals.
Our schools is a great community to belong to. Here is what some of our pupils think of it:

- Great Rissington gives us a good education. Sometimes the work can be challenging and sometimes it can be fun.
- You are well looked after in the playground.
- The school grounds and the special place are great.
- We like having responsibility.
From 1998 to 2004, when the scheme came to an end, we were privileged to have Beacon School status, which came about as a result of our excellent Ofsted inspections and the quality of the education which we provide.
In 2006 we were awarded Healthy School Status and we were successful in gaining the ICT Mark for our excellent provision in ICT. In 2008 we achieved our first Green Flag from ECO Schools for environmental sustainability. We also achieved Active Mark and Sports Mark for our quality provision in PE. We have links with schools in France and Birmingham and have recently been awarded with an International Award. Our Ofsted report and our SATS results speak for themselves, but we Liz Bannister Headteacher
